Following 20 months of study by a working group, mandated by the Archive Committee, the Management Board adopted the Operational Circular N° 3 on October 16, 1997, outlining a new infrastructure for the CERN archiving strategy. The Operational Circular formulates the new rules and procedures for archiving and access to archival material at CERN, and is accompanied by a policy paper on archiving, signed by the Director-General on October 17, 1997.
