TREF is a consultative committee created in 1994 to succeed the Tripartite Advisory Committee on Conditions of Employment (TRACE) set up in 1989.

TREF decides the salary adjustment procedure, the staff rules and regulations, the CERN career structure and Pensions Fund, annual salary adjustments, future work plan, health insurance scheme, etc...
