Administrative history

In April 1977, the Research Board approved experiment R807, using a new spectrometer at the Intersecting storage Rings (ISR). AFS spectrometer was used by Brookhaven-CERN-Coppenhague (NBI)-Lund-Pennsylvanie-Rutherford-Tel Aviv collaboration (R807) for the study of high tranverse momentum flow phenomena in proton-proton and proton-antiproton collisions and by Athen-Bonn-Brookhaven-CERN-Moscow collaboration (R808) for the study of Direct Photon Production.

Content & Structure [Top]

Scope and content

The AFS facility consisted of a central detector, a cylindrical drift chamber located in an axial magnetic field, enterely surrounded by a calorimeter using uranium-238 (depleted uranium) as the predominant conversion material. This collection contains specifications for the scintillator, and for the copper absorber plates, tender forms, invoices, memoranda, price schedules, correspondance, and specifications of the uranium detector plates for experiment R807.

Appraisal, destruction and scheduling information

Nothing was destroyed.

No further accruals are expected.

System of arrangement

The original order has been preserved.
