Electronics specifications and standards
Description
For several years CERN has been an active member in several standardization organizations who develop important specifications and standards in the field of electronics: IPC, PCI-SIG, PICMG, PXI System Alliance and VITA. Other resources are also listed below.
IPC
- IPC provides standards and quality programs supporting the electronics industry such as standards for electronics assembly and PCB fabrication. The main specification for CERN is IPC-A-610: Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.
- Standards are available on the CERN Library Catalogue.
- IPC Website: http://www.ipc.org
PCI-SIG
- This organization develops standards such as PCI Express, PCI and PCI-X.
- Standards available on CERN Library Catalogue.
- PCI-SIG website: http://www.pcisig.com
- To access the 'members only area', you may register yourself at https://members.pcisig.com/user/register and use CERN in the company lookup.
PICMG
- This organization develops standards such as CompactPCI, ATCA, MicroTCA, COM Express.
- Standards available on CERN Library Catalogue.
- PICMG website: https://www.picmg.org
PXI Systems Alliance
- This organization develops standards such as PXI: 'PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation' and PXIe: 'PCI EXPRESS eXtensions for Instrumentation'.
- The specifications are available from: http://pxisa.org/Specifications/
SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association)
- The SNIA is a non-profit global organization dedicated to developing standards and education programs to advance storage and information technology.
- CERN employees wanting to observe or participate in SNIA's SFF TA TWG can create a user account.
VITA
- This organization develops standards such as VMEbus, PMC, VXS, VPX and FMC.
- Standards available on CERN Library Catalogue.
- VITA public website: http://www.vita.com
- VITA members website: https://workspace.vita.com
- To access the "member's only area", you may register yourself at http://www.vita.com/join and use CERN in the company lookup.
